Dear Life Is Art Family, Friends, and Fans,
We are excited to announce a full slate of events and shows for September!
UPDATE: #NEWDATE Opening Reception: Tuesday, September 3, 5:00pm. #thanksdorian
We are so happy to support our Artistic Director, Dita Devi, in her solo show at the Miami Urban Contemporary Experiance (MUCE) Campus. MUCE Presents: Shakti – An Indian Woman’s Journey Of Healing Trauma Through Ancestral Guidance and Spiritual Awakening. Curated by the inimitable Bart Mervil, the opening reception is Sunday, September 1st, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
Indian American artist, poet and activist Dita Devi expresses her journey through art of finding solace in culture through deep meditation and trance in the creation of various images of the female archetypes, primarily relating to her Hindu background.
Exhibition runs from September 1st – September 30th and can be viewed by appointment by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The reception is free and open to the public. RSVP on Facebook.
Starting September 3rd, it is the return of the beloved Shaktiville! Founded by Dita Devi, Shaktiville, literally meaning the home of female divine energy, is a regular pop-up show hosting a wide variety of homegrown artistic expression. The Return of Shaktiville includes the 3rd, 10th, and 24th of September at the MUCE Campus in Little Haiti.
The shows include music, visual arts, poetry, dance, and performance, all with the dual visions of building connectedness and empowering the artists. Each evening includes a mixture of planned programming sprinkled with curated open mics.
People from across the geographic and demographic spectrum are all welcome! Special activities and incentives will be included to encourage attendees to connect with new people.
Tickets are $10. Purchase through Facebook.
On Saturday, September 7th, please join Life Is Art for the massive kick off of the arts season, #ArtsLaunch2019 at the Arsht Center! This is Miami’s biggest event celebrating the Arts Season kick-off and it is Free! It includes the Community Arts Village, mini performances, interactive workshops, kid’s zone, food, fun and more!
