Art/Work Connections is a monthly series of seminars presented by Life Is Art featuring business professionals speaking on a variety of topics vital to the success of working artists. This month we are covering one of the scariest topics for many artists, copyright.
Most people do not understand how the copyright process works, though it is actually fairly simple. We are going to break it down for you in a way that everyone can understand. We will cover a variety of topics, starting from the basics of what copyrigh is, what can and cannot be copyrighted, how and when to copyright your work. We will also cover what to do if you find that one of your works has been copied or used without your permission, when to pursue them for damages and how to do so, and when to let it go.
