Call details: Vargas Gallery is currently accepting submissions for the 2014 Biannual Juried Photography Exhibition. This Juried Competition is open to participants from any country, both amateurs and professionals. Photographs of all types, styles, methods and processing, black/white or color prints and photo-based projects shall be accepted. All submitted artworks MUST be original, created by the person/art collective who enters the competition. The theme for this group exhibition will remain open but special attention will be given to professionalism regarding technique and presentation of work. If selected, it will responsibility of the participant to pay for shipping charges, both ways. The goal of this exhibition is to provide an overview of the array of concepts explored in contemporary photography, nationally and internationally.
Jurors include:
Vargas Gallery Curators and Vargas University Professors, Annie Y. Saldaña M.F.A. and Henry Ballate M.F.A.
Ashley Craig, Co-Founder of Ticka Arts, a photography non-profit that helps with the development and growth of photography based artists.
Wes Carson, Photography Professor & Former Assistant of Irving Penn.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Artists can submit up to four (4) images that comprise a cohesive body of work. Image specifications are: Grayscale or RGB mode, 72 dpi, 1024 pixels on the longest side, JPEG format at maximum quality. The file name MUST follow this format: lastname-firstname-title.
-Word Document listing the information below for each submitted file:
• Artist’s name
• Title
• Medium
• Dimensions
• Mounting (e.g. framed, self-standing, etc.)
• Year produced
-Word Document with a short artist statement and a short artist biography

DEADLINES:
-Last day of submissions: July 31st, 2014
-Participating artists will be notified: August 14th, 2014
-Art must be received by: September 11th, 2014
-Exhibition Dates: October 2nd through October 30th, 2014
DIRECTIONS AND DATES:
The exhibition opening will take place Thursday October 2nd, 2014, reception hours are 6pm-10pm. Admission is free.
