A Flash Salon is an artist or curator exhibition of very short duration put on entirely by the applicant. Flash Salons range from 5 days to 9 days and take place in our historic main gallery at the Philadelphia Sketch Club in Center City, Philadelphia. They are juried exhibition opportunities, open to all but specifically targeting post-education pre-career artists and curators wishing to exhibit in the Philly area.
Artists and curators must apply on-line to be considered for the available slots. The primary standard by which an application is considered is that the resulting Flash Salon will be “Artistically Interesting and Stimulating“. All other attributes of the Flash Salon are up to the artist or curator producing the exhibition. All 2D and 3D works in any media are considered. There are 9 Flash Salon opportunities in a year.
The club gives the space only – the artist or curator provides everything else. There is a $15 application fee for all entrants, and a $100 exhibition fee charged to the artist or curator selected for the Salon. Both fees can be waived for any student, graduate, or faculty member of Uarts, UPenn, Moore, Tyler, or PAFA.

FEES: Application processing fee is $15. A $100 exhibition fee is charged to the awardee upon acceptance. Any student, graduate, or faculty member of the 5 big art schools in Philadelphia (Uarts, UPenn, Moore, Tyler, or PAFA) are granted a waiver of both fees upon request.
