Miami’s Independent Thinkers officially announces their ‘Call-to Artists’ for Miami’s Independent Thinkers | 2nd Edition Art Basel 2010 Satellite Fair, to be held at Casa Wynwood (2135 NW 1st Court), a 7,200 sq ft interior + 14,000 sq ft exterior warehouse space located in the heart of the gallery district.
The 4-day fair aims to feature local artists working across a range of media – painters, photographers, filmmakers, sculptors, animators, writers, musicians, muralists, performance and new media artists. The fair will run from December 2-5, 2010 during Art Basel and will include, live music, DJs, performance art, fashion and gastronomic edibles by Chef Jeremiah of gastroPod.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all artists living or working in South Florida. All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, animation, installation art, digital, film and performance artists are eligible.
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
INSTALLATION DETAILS & RESTRICTIONS: Wall mounted works must not be taller than 96†and no wider than 120â€. Sculptural works must fit through a standard entry door. Installations can be larger than this but must be able to fit through the door. If the artwork is larger than the specs provided, please contact us.
IMAGE PRESENTATION: Artwork is accepted via online submission in the form below. Please adhere to the following format for uploading images: 72 DPI, .jpg format, no larger than 1MB each. Submissions larger than 1MB may be rejected. PLEASE NAME FILES AS FOLLOWS: yourname_artworkname_1.jpg, yourname_artworkname_2.jpg etc…
FILM SUBMISSIONS: Films may be up to 15 minutes in length. We accept experimental films, documentaries, music videos and narrative. Format must be either .avi or .mov, at least 720 DPI provided via downloadable link. Please copy links into the ‘Artist Statement’ field of the submission form.
ANIMATION SUBMISSIONS: Animations may be up to 15 minutes in length. Format must be either .avi or .mov, at least 720 DPI provided via downloadable link. Please copy links into the ‘Artist Statement’ field of the submission form.
PERFORMANCE SUBMISSIONS: Performance pieces must be submitted via Word document in a proposal format. Please describe concept, duration, company members and basic technical requirements.
ENTRY FEE: There is a $20 entry fee for up to four images, $5 for each additional image. $20 entry fee for film, animation and performance submissions. Payment is accepted via PayPal. Cash may be accepted but must be handled in person.
DEADLINE: The final deadline for submissions is November 25th, 2010 at midnight.
NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than November 28th, 2010 by email.
COMMISSION: There will be a 50% commission on any sales made during the exhibition. Please price accordingly. Fair staff will handle all sales.
