Artists’ Residences
An opportunity for foreign Artists and Writers to work in residence in the center of Paris.
The French government and the Paris City Hall, have created a new program to welcome foreign artists and writers to work in residence for a period of 3 to 6 months (between January and December 2011) in renovated studio spaces located in the heart of Paris along the Canal Saint Martin.
Since its inception in 2003, over a hundred artists from 80 different countries have participated in the Recollet residence program. They were given the opportunity to live and work in fully renovated studio spaces and received a monthly financial aid of 1500 euros.
The French government is looking for new candidates for the year 2011:
· In order to qualify, one must be an established professional and contemporary artist or writer.
· Candidates will be judged on the strength of the project that he or she wishes to develop and complete during their residence.
· Applications are accepted until June 20, 2010 and are available online.
· The jury will finalize their selection during the month of September 2010 and will inform the recipients by email.
