Call details: Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to compete for a $400 first prize and the chance to have their work exhibited at a major racing event in America’s Best Racing’s inaugural Equine Art Challenge, an open-call, juried online art competition of works related to horses and horse racing.
The top 10 finalists as chosen by the independent panel of judges – consisting of an artist, an arts writer and a curator – will have their work exhibited at AmericasBestRacing.net and the winner will be profiled in an ABR feature.
The winning works will be selected by guest jurors Miranda Lash, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky.; Cameron Shaw, Executive Director and Founding Editor of Pelican Bomb, a contemporary visual arts organization based in New Orleans; and Edward Waites, a successful young equine sculptor based in England.
Entries are being accepted through June 8. The top 10 finalists will be displayed at www.AmericasBestRacing.net from July 6-17 and the winner will be announced July 21.
Guidelines:
– One submission per artist
– All media accepted (painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, works on paper, construction, jewelry, etc.)
– Artwork must be equine-related in some capacity
– Artists consent to having their work exhibited online at AmericasBestRacing.net (if selected among top 10) and agree to participate in a feature story (if chosen as the winner)
– Winning artist will be invited to have the winning artwork exhibited at a major racing event (event to be determined based on scheduling and logistical considerations)
