Protect your art! How do you Copyright your art work? Is it expensive? Is it complex? What does Intellectual Property actually mean? What is the difference between between Copyright and Trademark? Are people allowed you use your public (street) works without permission? Is it okay for people to photo and share your studio works with their smart phone? These are all questions that artists ask us all the time. In this seminar, we will answer these and more in language that regular people can understand.
In addition, we will be making an introduction to the Volunteer Lawyers for the Art. The program provides pro bono legal assistance through volunteer attorneys on specific client requests for the Miami-Dade region. This is a program that you really need to know about.

About Allen F. Bennett
Allen F. Bennett graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Mathematics minor. He spent time in the Ph.D. program at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, before attending law school. Before forming his own firm, Mr. Bennett worked at small and medium size IP Boutique firms, a civil litigation firm, as in-house counsel for a small biotech start-up as well as general civil litigation firms. These diverse experiences allow us to understand the needs of our clients and formulate individualized IP protection strategies.
Bennett Intellectual Property is a full service intellectual property firm. While focusing particularly on start-up companies and entrepreneurs, we also serve multi-million dollar corporations. Allen F. Bennett, founder of Bennett IP, has been registering and enforcing all forms of intellectual property since 2002.
We restrict our firm’s practice to patents, copyrights, trademarks, internet law and unfair competition. It’s all we do, and we do it well. In addition to securing hundreds of patents, trademarks and copyrights for our clients, we enforce and defend our clients’ rights in court and administrative proceedings at the Patent and Trademark Office. We also structure licensing and distribution agreements and can protect your intellectual property overseas.

We publish a daily e-mail newsletter that curates the day’s most important local news and shares original work we make. We produce events, from tours to art lessons to civic forums, that get locals together, exploring with and learning from each other. Our members get access to special content and events, and to a unique community of curious locals who share ideas, inspiration, and opportunities.
