– sculpture
Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
My artwork is a reflection of the society that we live in and the struggles that we experience within it in order to achieve our goals, whatever they may be. It confronts the fundamental questions of what it is to be human and what exactly is the correct way to act in this society, if there even is one. It seeks to interpret this human predicament by exploring the relationship between us and what we hold dear to our hearts, of what is most important to us. Each sculpture is a one of a kind work, assembled piece by piece.

Exploring my ideas through the cameras lens, I’m able to capture a fascinating visual that will take my viewers to a new place and into the world of others.
Star Trauth
– fiber sculpture
Website
I’m a fiber artist. I’m mad about the play of color and texture on fiber. I create pieces of fiber sculpture. I crave the creation of an artistic structure with my hands. I practiced interior design after graduating with a degree in fine art. After decade of successful practice, I realized that it was not my true calling, even though I was great at it. To quench my creative thirst, I turned to fiber. I wanted to create a unique piece of art, experimenting with metal and fibers. I turned and spun the materials until I had achieved a cylindrical architecture built of fiber and metal. It was satisfying in a way that no other discipline had been. The final set had five pieces. They were at once part of me, a personal story, they were also tribal, hinting at a story I had not told yet. Because of this I decided to name what I had created, totems. The fiber medium has allowed me to tell my stories more than any other discipline. To me, my art feels tribal, instinctual, feminine, and modern.

About Art Deco Weekend
The founders of the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) wanted to create a festival that would attract people to Ocean Drive in order to bring attention to the gorgeous Art Deco buildings that live there. Now, millions have come to the district and Miami Beach has some of the best preservation laws in the country. MDPL will host the 38th Art Deco Weekend with the same beautiful backdrop as the 1st Art Deco Weekend. www.artdecoweekend.com
About the Art Deco Museum
The Museum allows tourists and locals to better understand the architectural heritage and community culture of Miami Beach. MDPL designed the museum to be educational and informational, while reflecting the fun and glamour of Miami Beach. A visit to the museum will teach about the three major historic design styles in Miami Beach. These styles are Mediterranean Revival, Art Deco and Miami Modern (MiMo). Scale models of select buildings allow you to have a closer look at the elements of these structures. You will also learn about the development of the City Miami Beach. The Miami Beach Visual Memoirs project has recorded the personal stories of people who have been a part of Miami Beach’s story. MDPL’s history is also on display so that guests can learn more about preservation. The museum includes a resource center, a children’s area, rotating exhibits and much more!
