Greetings Everyone!
Well, we have a bit of news and some other odds and ends so here we go.
DOWNTOWNER POSTPONED
First up, we are postponing the Downtowner Arts on the River event for now. As soon as we have a new date secured, we will let everyone know. We are dedicated to only bringing the best events to south Florida and want to make sure each one is exceptional. Thank you for your understanding.
NEW MEMBERS!
We have added two new members to our Executive Council! Emmy Acosta is going to be our Technology Director. Mark Whitlock is joining as Operations Director. We thank them in advance for all their dedication and hard work.
BIKE TO BUILD
Life Is Art is co-sponsoring a special fundraiser at the next Bike Miami on October 4th to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. We have been invited by Brad A. Schenck (who co-produced FIESTA! with us) and Maria de los Angeles, famed writer of Sex and the Beach, to help them pull their Ford Fiesta down Flagler in order to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. And by “help”, I mean we posted the webpage and are managing the fundraising, NOT towing any car on a bike. That is all Brad.
Here is the page – lifeisartfest.org/blog/pull – on that you will find all the information, as well as videos from the previous pull. If you can afford to donate a few bucks, that would be awesome! And come on out and watch Brad kill himself trying to tow a car on a bicycle.
PHOTOS
I have posted links to photos from some of our recent events. If you have posted any galleries of any of our events, please send me the link and I will put it right up on our photo page.
EVENTS
Why are there no events listed on our website??? As you may or may not know, we produce events, networkers and seminars as the opportunities arise. Right now we are working on several potential events, including something for Art Basel week. But, if you know of a venue, could be a warehouse, restaurant, lounge, retail store, park, or pretty much any other place in south Florida, that would be interested in hosting something, please have them contact us. Our events support the arts and community as we bring people to new places to experience new art.
So, keep an eye out for announcements coming soon about what we are doing next!
WEBSITE SERVICES
You might have noticed that we list all sorts of information in our blog, not just our own. We list calls for artists from any organization that we receive them from. We list seminars and educational opportunities for artists. And we list other information important to the arts community, such as the recent action regarding the Miami-Dade county budget. If you have anything that you think needs to be posted, please send it along.
INTERVIEWS
Over the summer, we were so busy with all the events we were producing that we fell a little behind on our interviews. You can see all of them so far here. Now we are in need of some more. If you are an artist, gallerist, collector, dealer, dancer, performer, writer, or in any way involved in the arts and would like to be included in the interviews, please send an email to annette@lifeisartfest.org. She will get you all hooked up!
