The Artist as Activist program provides game-changing resources to artists of all disciplines, including visual, performing, media, design, and other creative professions, who address important global challenges through their creative practice. The inaugural group of Artist as Activist Fellows tackled a range of timely issues, such as climate change and caste-based sexual violence. Following the 2015 round of fellows, the Foundation decided to focus the program on a specific issue or theme. The 2016 and 2017 cohorts of fellows are addressing racial justice through the lens of mass incarceration.
